Clutch Kits

                                Most company's that distribute clutches today, offer clutch kits, but let the buyer beware. Not all clutch kits are the same. Staying with name brand clutch kits, guaranty's quality and peace of mind. 

The one thing that LuK clutch kits, Valeo clutch kits, and Exedy clutch kits have in common is that they all contain a disc, pressure plate, release bearing (throw out bearing), pilot bearing or bushing (where required) and a clutch alignment tool. If the release bearing and internal slave cylinder are the same item (hydro bearing), they're in the clutch kit. If the release bearing gets mounted on the internal slave cylinder (like Ford Trucks), it's normally not included in the clutch kit. These are precision matched clutch kits and normally contain components made by the original clutch manufacturer for that vehicle application. Since the above clutch manufacturers don't make 100% of their clutch line, they purchase clutch components from each other and repackage it as their own. For example, a LuK clutch kit might have an Exedy pressure plate packaged with a LuK disc or a Valeo disc. Finding a clutch kit supplier that offers LuK clutch kits, Valeo clutch kits & Exedy clutch kits, can insure that you receive the lowest price and an OE quality clutch kit. Ask the clutch kit supplier who the original equipment clutch manufacturer is for your vehicle application.

Be careful of company's that claim to have name brand clutch kits, yet their prices are significantly less than the competition selling the same brand. As in any industry, some company's are unscrupulous. If you get a much lower price on a name brand clutch kit, inspect it carefully when you receive it. There are company's that will buy a genuine pressure plate from one of the company's above. They might add a disc and bearing made in China and put it in the clutch cover (pressure plate) bow. So the box you see is genuine, but it's a clutch cover box as apposed to a clutch kit box from that manufacturer. I've seen this quite often and it's criminal, to me. It's another way of counterfeiting.

                LuK Pro Gold clutch kits and Exedy Racing clutch kits contain a disc, pressure plate, release bearing (throw out bearing), pilot bearing or bushing (where required) and clutch alignment tool. Most modified performance clutch kits contain a disc, pressure plate and release bearing. Some performance clutch suppliers sell clutch discs and pressure plates separately and don't offer performance clutch kits.
